At first, of course, it was hard for me because I couldn't understand a word they said; by so, I couldn't sa anything in class. Thus, unlike my usual personality, I became the quiet and shy one in out class. But soon enough, I made good friends who helped me blend in with others. I still am very thankful for all their cares and concerns, not to metion their efforts to help me. Never have I seen such nice people in this world. After becoming comfortable with everyone, I started speaking up in class. Even though my grammers were not that good, I went on and tried to express myself nevertheless. Within half of a year, I becae the most active student in the class.
However, I wanted something more. I tried out many activities in and out the school, such as debate and horseback riding. It was as if I was bron in America and lived there for my whole life. At that time, I didn't know anything about racism or anything so negative. I was so optimistic and bright I just didn't care about those issues. However, when I was completely Americanized, I found out that the school next to mine had serious racism problems, especially with Asians. They even called Koreans "yellow monkey" in front of their faces. I was so shoced at first because my school had not much racism. For some period, I was afriad to meet caucasians. However, my friends helped me again to go through this slump. Through these experiences, I felt the true friendship and how much it helps a person throughout life. Then I thought to myself, I should also be more warmhearted and caring for others just like my friends were to me.
I became a completely different person with a whole new personality after the experience in America. I became more naive and good-hearted. Although I came a tiny bit gullible, I believe my personalities improved and became a better person.
